The Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sport Association (VIRESA) has confirmed that a total of 10 eSports competitions are scheduled for the SEA Games in Vietnam; 4 more games than its debut at the 2019 Games in the Philippines.
Among the events are a League of Legends tournament on PC as well as men’s and women’s Wild Rift competitions on mobile.
Other mobile tournaments include Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena of Valor, Free Fire, and individual and team tournaments in PUBG Mobile.
FIFA Online 4 is also to feature on PC along with CrossFire.
A statement from VIRESA read: “In recent years, Vietnam has successfully organised many international esports events, and at the same time many strong athletes and teams have achieved high achievements in regional and international tournaments. VIRESA has full confidence in a successful SEA Games, both in the organisation and competition achievements. The SEA Games is a good opportunity for Vietnam esports to assert its position.”
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Arena of Valor, Dota 2, Starcraft II, Tekken 7 and Hearthstone featured on the programme at the 2019 SEA Games with the host nation Philippines topping the medals table with three golds, one silver and one bronze.
A total of 11 nations are set to compete in 40 sports at this year’s SEA Games, scheduled to run from November 21 to December 2.
